Guess Who .... AGAIN !!!!!!

A well know member of the Gundagai Anglers Club ventured to Blowering Dam recently to fish the full moon.

What started out to be a pleasant evening soon turned into a night of chaos.

Some people say things go in threes........

At around midnight this chap decided it was time to call it quits as the weather had started to turn nasty. It took him nearly 3/4 of an hour to get from the Wall to the Log Creek boat ramp and by the time he got there the waves were nearly 4 feet high.

It was his lucky night (he thought) as some other members of the fishing club (Tony Bennett and his mate) had just put their boat on their trailer and stopped to assist this chap to load his boat. Standing in water up to their waists they struggled to put the boat on the trailer as the waves crashed over the back of the boat. Suddenly a large waved crashed against the boat and filled it with a foot of water.

After a lot of wheel spinning and heated words they eventually got the boat and trailer out to find about twenty 90MM AC lures afloat.

They turned on the bilge pump and 40 minutes later the boat was emptied and surprise surprise they found this chap's mobile phone on the floor of the boat.

At 1am they finally headed off home.

About 20k from home the chap heard a loud bang coming from his trailer and then saw a wheel overtake him and continue on its merry way 500 yards down the highway into the dark. He was forced to pull over to avoid further damage. On inspection he found that all 5 wheel studs had snapped off.

Things were not so bad (he thought) as this chap always carried a spare wheel and complete hub. The chap and his mates (who had followed him home) unbolted the spare wheel and hub but found it didn't fit as this chap had recently changed his axle. The axle was a Ford but the bearings and hub where Holden. They eventually decided to replace the broken studs with the new studs from the spare.

After fixing it, it took them another 35 minutes to locate the missing wheel. They bolted on the wheel and headed off home ....... again. They arrived home at 5.30am.

The following weekend (last weekend) the chap (along with Ian Harpley) joined the anglers club on an outing at Burrinjuck Dam. On Saturday he trolled all over the Dam trying to find a fish and a place out of the wind, eventually he decided to head up the Murrumbidgee arm to try his luck.

The weather didn't improve and the chaps decided to call it quits and head for home. As they entered the main basin the chaps favorite "lucky" cap blew off and sank before they had time to retrieve it.

Not feeling the best after losing his favorite cap he takes off as he always does, 500 yards and 4500rpm later the new mercury comes to a screaming holt. After many failed attempts to start the motor he decides to turn on his electric motor and head for home. On the way he spots another group of Gundagai anglers tied up near Cave Island and heads for them. The group tow the chap and his mate back to shore.

On returning home the chap took his boat back to the Mercury Dealer to see what had happened to his new outboard motor. The dealer couldn't turn the prop or the engine over. The chap was told to leave it with him and come back later that day to check on progress. On his return he fold the dealer had got the prop to turn over but the bad news was that he couldn't get the engine to turn over.

To date the chap is waiting for Mercury to authorise the dealer to dismantle the motor to find the problem - suspected broken piston or crank. The engine is only 8 months old and has only done 62 hours.

Has this poor chap run over someone, broken a mirror or walked under to many ladders ?

Murray Fishing Trip in June 2008

In June 2008 some members of the Gundagai Anglers, Alan Anderson & Anthony Curtis from Wagga went down the murray river near Midura. They were accompanied by Ashley Barber, Blair Whitley, Dave Carter & Jamin Forbes .

Several large cod were caught the first by Blair Whilltey measuring,

Several large Cod were prominent on the sounders,

The Trip went through one of the large Locks on the Murray,

Jamin Forbes & Ashley Barbers boats going into the lock to travel downstream,

A number of fishing shacks are located along the river,

Roger Miles (aka Cod Hunter) from Vic, joined us foir a few days & caught largest fish of the trip 116cm est 90lb, Murray River bend scene &,

Burrinjuck Club Trip 6th & 7th December 2008

Club Fishing Trip to Burrinjuck 6th & 7th December 2008

There was a good turn up at the recent club trip to Burrinjuck Dam. What was looking like a great weekend turned out to be very windy. Although the weather wasn't kind and did its best to blow us off the water a few fish were landed. Besides the reddies a 59cm cod and a 37cm yella were landed.



The group took advantage of the windy conditions on Saturday afternoon and put the final touches to the veranda extension by adding the new roof. The finished extension is a great addition and will prove to be very handy on future club trips.

Lake Glenbawn Fishing Trip - November 2008

In early November a group of keen Gundagai Anglers spent a week fishing at Lake Glenbawn. The weather was very kind but the fishing was slower than previous years. But a good time was had by all.

The group was - Anthony Harpley, Ian Harpley, Jim Harpley, Dave Friend, Derrick, Daryl Williams, Mark and Dylan Brown, Peter Stuckey and Alan (Angry) Anderson.

The usual contest was held for the biggest Yellow Belly and Bass. The winners this year were:

biggest Yellow belly (48cm) - Daryl Williams (Daz);

biggest Silver Bream (37cm) - Dylan Brown; and

biggest Bass (38cm) - tie between Peter Stuckey and Derrick Dowell.

There were a few contestants for the usual "shirt award" and the winner still has to be decided.

Lake Monduran Trip

Lake Monduran (QLD) Fishing Trip 2008

Recently Peter Stuckey and Daryl Williams spent a weeks fishing at lake Monduran. The Lake is conveniently located 20km north of Gin Gin and 4km off the Bruce Highway. It is one of the best places to experience Barramundi fishing in South East Queensland. It is about 4 hours drive north of Brisbane. It’s easily the best place to head to land that fish of a lifetime.



Here are just a few pictures of the lake and some of the Fish Peter and Daryl caught and released. They ranged from 90cm to 101cm.
